Start of Semester B- Art History and Morph Cut effect

For the first day of semester B we looked at some art history.

This included looking at art from pompeii (which used perspective):

Some art by Piero Della Francesca, which contains symbolism and perspective:

The Baptism of Christ, (s) 168 × 116 cm, 1450, (National Gallery, London).

We then compared this painting to previous Religious paintings like the following image, which don't use perspective:

We also researched when the printing press was invented (1440s), when paper was invented (Around 100 BC in China.) and what was used before (Parchement).

After that we looked at some more art from the National Gallery. We also watched a scene from the film 'the searchers' which referenced the Nativity painting by Piero Della Francesca.

We also researched Rene Descartes, whos famous saying is 'I think, therfore I am' Which means that because he thinks he exists within the world. This could be related to the portraits and cave painting hands that we also looked at.
We then went on to make a short video within Premiere pro using self portrates/images of 'Rembrandt', a golden age painter.
We first set up a Media cache folder (Edit>Preferences>Media Cache).
We then chose a format for the sequence (DNXHD- DNXHQ1080p25) and imported the Rembrandt images.
We then added the images to the sequence, overlapping slightly, and lined the faces up (Adjusting the transparency helped).
We then moved the images on the sequence so they were next to each other and then added a morphcut (Video Transitions>Disolve>MorphCut) where the two images meet. Once rendered the images would morph into one another. We also tried out 25 fps in comparison to 50 fps.

Once done we exported with sequence settings.
