Comics

We looked at how comics work as a medium.
We looked at some examples and the frames are laid out and spaced.
It was interesting to see examples of characters sticking out of the edge of the box and I had never thought before how when reading a comic you can control the timing of the story depending on how you read it (for instance we were given the example of not wanting to turn a page and how that increases curiosity about what is on the next page)
Image found online as an example.
This also shows how effects and shading/colouring is often done in this type of comic. There are lots of bright colours along with black and white, the font is bold and the shading is mostly done with solid shapes or gradients. There are also lots of lines to indicate movement.
