Name for the game
I needed to come up with a working title for my game.
The only name I had in mind was "nature's treasure hunt" but that's quite generic and not very creative. In a tutorial, I mentioned that I was struggling to think of a name and it was suggested to look at chess terms since the puzzle in the game looks a bit like a chessboard.
However, when looking at the terms, nothing stood out to me as being related to my game idea and I didn't necessarily want to name the game something that I didn't understand properly. I did think about the "rook" piece which can move horizontally and vertically, however, this is also the name of a bird and there's not really a connection to that in my game idea.
I then thought about maybe using a Latin word (even though I don't understand Latin), since it might produce a more original idea (in comparison to sticking to English words) Since the character has leaves on its head I looked up the Latin word for Leaves which is "Folia" I then searched if there was a game with this name or with a similar name and there was. Then I thought I could add another word, but I couldn't think of one that went well. I then thought that since my character looks a bit like a potato I could play on that and use another word for potato. This is how I ended up with the working title of "SpudFolia" I think this name is quite interesting and funny and as far as I know it's a made-up word and doesn't really mean anything unless it's broken up into "Spud" and "Folia" meaning Potato leaves. When searching "SpudFolia" the recommended search term is "Subfolia" which is used to describe something beneath leaves.
I might decide to change the name in the future but I think this could be a good as a working title.
