Mesh Based Cloud Material | How can I improve my Material ? : r/unrealengine (reddit.com)

I looked at this forum but didn't really find anything that would be simple for me to do to help improve the look of the clouds in my scene. It all looked a bit too complex for what I wanted to do.

Make Realistic Clouds in Less Than Two Minutes - Blender Tutorial - YouTube

In this video, they use a plane with an Ocean modifier to make a cloud mesh. This might be good for the base of my experience. Once the settings are adjusted to their preference they select all non-manifolds (in edit mode), extrude them up, SZ0 (to flatten them) and make a face. They then move the face down to just above the bottom parts of the cloud. They then add new material, remove the surface and add a principled volume.

The problem with this was that it made 1 million verts so it was impossible to export so I tried decimating it and this allowed me to export it.

I think this adds a bit more depth to the piece without having to add lots of individual clouds.

I also ended up with some interesting shapes like this when experimenting with the wave modifier but I didn't really have a use for a shape like this and it would have the same high number of vertices problem.
