Tutorial with Josh

 24/1/24

I went to the base room to get some feedback on my game and some help fixing some of the problems I had.

I showed what I had made so far as well as my proposal document. I was told that it was good amount of work for a degree project. I also got a good idea for the project for when the monster wakes up which was to have the monster enter the game board and chase the player across the board. I think this makes more sense rather than having the chase happen in a different area, it also adds the challenge of avoiding the mines while trying to game.

In my head this interaction could be similar to the prison escape minigame from the game BitLife as seen in the image below.  This is a turn based mini game and you have to escape the "prison" without getting caught by the prison guard. My interpretation of this would be different because instead of walls there will be the traps which the player will have to avoid without knowing their exact locations. I also might add a timer to make the player want to move rather than staying still (Which would not make sense in the context of a monster chasing the character)

I also talked through some of the problems I had been having including the characters leaf hair glitching/clipping into the character, which we found out was because unity did not like how the model was made (So I will have to remake the hair) the other problem I had was that the movement animation was playing after the character moved but we could not find the solution.

Overall this tutorial was very helpful.

I also started to make a texture for the game after the tutorial, I have not tested the texture yet but I made it by drawing over a picture I took and then editing it so the sides lined up.
