Photoshop: Animation (BouncingBall)
Our first task for animating in photoshop was to create a bouncing ball animation.
My bouncing ball animation |
The first thing to do was to set up the photoshop page; by opening the 'timeline' window, creating a 'video timeline' and setting the framerate to 10fps.
To help create the animation we used this image as a guide:
tutorial-1 : bouncing ball | (angryanimator.com) |
Using the 'ellipse' tool we replicated the first circle in the sequence (Holding shift for a regular circle). We then could change the colour of the circle and by 'rasterising' and using the 'magic wand tool' we could shade it using a darker colour with a low opacity.
After we were happy with the appearance of the "Ball" we could revert it to a smart object and start animating it.
The animation used 'keyframes' like in premiere pro. After clicking the stopwatch next to transform, we could add keyframes and move/distort the circle so that it matched the guide. Each circle from the guide was a different frame. For the parts where the circle returned to it's original shape, a past frame could be copy and pasted so that the circle would be proportional again. After animating the ball we could then add a background, using the artistic brushes and smudge tool to give the background an atmosphere. We also added a shadow by adding a new blank video layer (Which allows you to draw on each frame), then using a low opacity brush we added the shadows on each frame.
Once finished we exported the animation as a GIF (File>Export>SaveforWeb(Legacy)GIF)
I think my final outcome looks quite good, I only wish that I had chosen a different colour for the ball.
