User experience

In class, we looked at User experience again. The main thing to think about when considering User Experience is to design with the user in mind and to make sure what you are making is fun and easy to use.

It's also helpful to think about what problems your project will solve, for instance, a game can provide entertainment or an escape from the world; puzzle games could also challenge their problem-solving skills.

For my project, I think the target audience would be people looking for a simple puzzle game with a storyline (Since those are the key features I intend to include). The goal of the project would be to provide entertainment, an escape from the world, to challenge problem-solving skills and potentially to provoke emotions from the user. I think the user would use my game if they enjoy puzzle games and they are looking for a new puzzle game to play or if they were looking for a puzzle game with a story. They could play the game in a variety of places if it was a mobile game, but they could also play it online at home.

Name: Maria

Age: 29

Job: Sales Manager

She enjoys watching sitcoms and playing mobile games with her friends. She also enjoys taking photographs and sharing them online.

She is looking for a puzzle game to improve her problem-solving skills, which also includes an interesting and funny storyline. Sometimes the puzzle games she plays get boring since they get repetitive after a while, this is why she prefers games with storylines. She would like to create her own company in the future.

She plays games to escape from her busy work life. She prefers games that are low-commitment. Sometimes she is stressed from work because some customers complain a lot. She has money to spend on games if there is something she really wants, she also likes supporting small businesses and solo developers.

One of her friends recommended the game since they have a common interest in puzzle games. She enjoys the storyline and finds the puzzles challenging but not impossible. She likes the characters because they are cute. When with her friends she talks about the game and shares it with friends that haven't tried it yet.

Name: Alex

Age: 12

He enjoys playing football with his friends from school. Whenever he visits one of his friends’ houses they enjoy playing computer games together.

He is looking for a game that has an interesting storyline and is entertaining. He is also quite competitive so he would like a game that has levels so that he can compare his progression with his friends. He also enjoys funny animations.

He often plays games on his parents phone while on the way to school, as well as when he sees his friends. His parents complain about him being on the phone too much so they would prefer for him to play a game that is easy to put down. His parents do not want him to spend lots of money on games since they want him to learn to be responsible with money.

He found this game while looking for a new game to play and shared it with his friends, they liked the look of the character since it looked a bit funny. With his friends he is competing to see who will get to the fourth area/level first.
